Saikia slams Modi Govt. for rising prices of petrol and diesel
During the interview, Saikia slammed the Modi Govt. for continually increasing the prices of petrol and diesel. He said that right now the price of diesel has risen to a record high and the price of petrol has reached a three-year peak, but neither the media nor non-political organisations want to raise this issue. He said that during the tenure of the UPA Govt., the crude oil price was at a record high of $120 per barrel but the Congress-led Govt. had managed to rein in the domestic prices, However, now the Modi Govt. has hiked petrol and diesel prices to all-time high levels even though the crude oil price is only $76.26 per barrel. He requested students’ organisations as well as political organisations to raise their voices on this issue and said that the Congress has been fighting alone on this front so far.
