Leader of opposition Saikia smash on Himanta for his view on Cancer Patient
Today, in an interview with @AajTak Assam Legislative Assembly’s Leader of opposition DebabrataSaikia lashes out at HimantaBiswaSarma, Health & Education Minister of Assam for his latest controversial comment on Cancer Patients in a teacher’s meet at Guwahati. He further alleged that the minister himself was encouraging the people who are addicted to the tobacco and smoking. According to him, during Congress Govt. in his previous tenure as Health Minister, “A Tobacco Free Bill” was passed in the assembly where it is stated that tobacco consumption is injurious to health. After having all this knowledge the Minister trying to cover up his failure in health ministry, by saying that “People have Cancer, because of their sins, this is divine justice”.Mr. Saikia also slams him for his statement ‘Cancer is divine justice for sins according to Hindu Mythology’ as a state and a ministry should not run on MYTHOLOGY.
By answering a question asked by the journalist “Mr. sarma admitted that his father has died of cancer due to karmic deficiency of past, what is your take on that?”
Saikia answered “It is very sad to answer such disgusting question in today’s scientific world , my father also died of Cancer but I don’t think that my father has done anything wrong in his past life, actually BJP doesn’t have any development agenda, their only focus is on how to divide people according to their religion”.

Speaking at an event in Guwahati, Sarma said, “God makes us suffer when we sin. Sometimes we come across young men getting inflicted with cancer or young men meeting with accidents. If you observe the background, you will come to know that it’s divine justice, and nothing else. We have to suffer that divine justice.”
