A person with enthusiasm, compassion and devotion to work for the inhabitants of the state of Assam, Sri Debabrata Saikia is one of the most popular leaders in the state of Assam. Being in a respectable position in the political scenario of Assam, Sri Saikia, MLA of Nazira, is a visionary who has been manifesting his high ideas in the activities that he has undertaken for the upliftment of the people of Assam.

Born on 14th of December,1964, at Nazira, Sivasagar, Assam, Sri Saikia belongs to a blue-blooded family possessing rich culture and tradition. Being an inheritor of Late Hiteswar Saikia, former chief minister of Assam, and Dr. (Mrs.) Hemoprova Saikia, Chairman, Assam Tourism Development Corporation, Govt. Of Assam, Sri Debabrata Saikia is well verged with the problems of the state of Assam. Under the able guidance of his father, Sri Saikia had growned to a leader of quality and value.

Sri Saikia had completed his graduation in Arts from Calcutta University. He got married to Smti Bandana Saikia. Sri Saikia is blessed with his two children, Luit and Krishnika.

Debabrata Saikia assisted his father all along in this long spell of his political career in all organizational work as well as during elections and bye elections particularly from 1978 onwards till his demise in 1996.

His political view is to work for the party which can built a society which combines compassion with “competence, equity with excellence.” Moreover, Mr. Debabrata Saikia associated with Youth fort Social Welfare and Probaah, two leading NGOs for community development. These NGOs serves at grass root level and is popular for its yeoman services among the Muslims, Hindus, Tea Tribes and other tribal community.

His belief in life is to just work and live it for others to judge. In his whole life, he values truth as only this builds the foundation of all values.
